E-MRS 2026 Making Nanoparticles with a BANG

My abstract, Making nanoparticles with a BANG: Extreme non-equilibrium synthesis of metal, metal oxide nanoparticles via detonation, was published for the E-MRS Spring Meeting 2026 in Strasbourg, France.

This work presents the continued development of the Bristol Accelerated Nanoparticle Generation method, or BANG, as a solvent-free route to metal and metal oxide nanoparticles. The method uses the extreme conditions generated during detonation, followed by ultrafast quenching, to access particles formed far from equilibrium.

The latest stage of this work expands the system beyond noble metals and explores the potential of BANG-made particles for applications such as catalysis, where uncapped particle surfaces may be especially useful.
